below sea level) and a minimum atmospheric pressure of 20.01 inches of mercury (10,000 feet
above sea level). Upon completion, the lead shall be subjected to and pass the tests of 4.2.4.2
and 4.2.4.3.
4.2.7.5 Humidity test. To determine conformance to 3.6.3, the ignition lead shall be
subjected to an atmosphere of clear water vapor for a period of 15 days under the conditions and
cycle specified in table II. Immediately after 12 hours of the first test cycle, check the ignition
lead for proper operation with the maximum specified voltage. During the last cycle of the 15
day test, operate the ignition lead throughout its entire range of operation under each of the
ambient conditions specified. At the end of the 15 days of test, dry the ignition lead without
forced convection for 12 hours in air at less than 69.8F (21C) with not less than 50% relative
humidity. After this, disassemble and inspect the ignition lead. There shall be no corrosion or
other defects present that affect the function or structural strength of the assembly. Upon
completion, the lead shall be subjected to and pass the tests of 4.2.4.2 and 4.2.4.3.

4.2.7.6 Salt spray. To determine conformance to 3.6.4, ignition lead shall be exposed to
salt fog for a minimum of 48 hours. The fog solution shall be 5 % NaCl by weight in 95 %
distilled water by weight. The temperature shall be maintained between 90 to 95F (32 and
35C). Fog density shall be 3 quarts of solution per 10 cubic feet of chamber volume per
24 hours. Upon completion, the lead shall be subjected to and pass the tests of 4.2.4.2 and
4.2.4.3.
4.2.7.7 Sand and dust test. To determine conformance to 3.6.5, the ignition lead shall be
subjected to the sand and dust test in accordance with Method 510 of MIL-STD-810 or an
equivalent. The ignition lead need not be operated during the test; however, at the conclusion of
the test and prior to any cleaning of the ignition lead, it shall be subjected to and pass the tests of
4.2.4.2 and 4.2.4.3.
4.2.7.8 Fungus test. To determine conformance to 3.6.6, ignition lead shall be inoculated
with a spore suspension and tested in accordance with Method 508 of MIL-STD-810 or an
equivalent. Temperature shall range from 80 to 84F and the relative humidity from 96 to 100 %
