MIL-PRF-46795H
3.4.3 Maximum current (rated output). Generating system shall supply 60 A current
under maximum load at 10 000 revolutions per minute (rpm) alternator rotor shaft speed
(see 4.9).
3.4.3.1 Non-operating current. Generating system shall exhibit non-operating current
through ignition switch circuit of not more than 300 milliamperes (mA). Further, with ignition
switch open, non-operating current from battery shall be not more than 25 mA (see 4.9.2).
3.4.4 Endurance. Generating system shall maintain set voltage (see 3.4.2.2) during
operation under various conditions of rotor shaft position, speed, and current load. There shall be
no servicing, adjustment, nor replacement of parts (see 4.10).
3.4.5 Overspeed. Generating system shall operate at 12 000 rpm under not more than
5 A load without impairing electrical or mechanical performance (see 4.11).
3.4.6 High temperature operation. Generating system shall maintain set voltage output
+ 0.2 Vdc during operation in ambient air temperature of 250 degrees Fahrenheit (F)
(121 degrees Celsius (C)). Subsequently, system shall conform to 3.4.3 (see 4.12).
3.4.7 Low temperature operation. Generating system shall maintain set voltage output
+ 0.5 Vdc during operation in ambient air temperature of minus (-) 65F (-54C). Subsequently,
system shall conform to 3.4.3 (see 4.13).
3.4.8 Shock. After testing in accordance with 4.14, generating system shall meet the
requirements of 3.4.2 and 3.4.3.
3.4.9 Vibration. During testing in accordance with 4.15, generating system shall
maintain set voltage output + 0.5 Vdc. After testing in accordance with 4.15, the generating
system shall meet the requirements of 3.4.4.
3.4.10 Submersion. Generating system shall operate during submersion in a salt-water
solution. Current from battery shall not exceed 10 A. Subsequently, voltage regulator
compartment shall contain not more than 10 cubic centimeters (cm3) of salt-water solution, and
the system shall meet the requirements of 3.4.2 and 3.4.3 (see 4.16).
3.4.11 Fungus resistance. Generating system shall meet the requirements of 3.4.2 and
3.4.3 after testing in accordance with 4.17.
3.4.12 Corrosion resistance. Generating system shall meet the requirements of 3.4.2 and
3.4.3 after testing in accordance with see 4.18.
